how to stop using drugsWelcome to the world of drug use. Welcome to the world of an addict. Are you ready to go for a ride? Okay, here we go.

Want to know how to stop using drugs? It isn’t as easy as just putting the bottle, needle, bag, straw, mirror, or pills down.

I am going to ask you to a do few things throughout the post, the first is to use your imagination.

I want you to picture pain. I want you to imagine a world that is hazy and dark. I want you to think of your most humiliating, saddest, most miserable moment in your life and then stretch that moment out over a lifetime. I want you to imagine what it feels like to be broken on the inside. I want you to think to yourself how it would feel watching that brokenness move from the inside out. It moves from the inside out, showing up on your skin in the form of scars, tired eyes, pinpoint pupils, thinning hair and pale skin.

Today you have spent all your money on getting high and tomorrow you have sworn to yourself that you will get help, that you will finally try to stop the drug use. Tomorrow comes, and tomorrow goes. And you once again have spent all your money on using drugs. And with every failed attempt comes the tired, lonely, idea that creeps in and whispers, “It’s hopeless.”

Welcome to the world of drug use. Welcome to the world of an addict. It is a world filled with the unimaginable pain of wanting to stop using drugs but being incapable of actually doing it. It is a world where all you want to do is scream for help but the words just aren’t coming out. It is your worst nightmare and it is the monster chasing you down the street. It seems you will never win. It is a world where you tell yourself that everything is okay but you know in your heart that it’s not. And it just won’t end.

Luckily there is a way to win. If you are an addict and you have ever said to yourself:

“I’m Addicted and Can’t Stop: I Need Help”

You can stop using drugs. It will take courage, honesty with yourself, and action on your part, but you can do it. We believe in you and the person we know you really are.

The first step towards getting drug abuse help is to talk about it. Tell your family, tell us, tell whoever! Just tell someone what has been going on and ask for help. The next step is to find an addiction help line or person who can direct you in the right direction. Often times if you are struggling with staying clean then you are going to need outside help.
